May 29, a delegation from IEI and Ambassador Enterprises (AE) participated in a strategic partners meeting with Dr. Eugene Habecker, President, Taylor University. Joyce Wood, Senior Director of Parent and Community Relations, called the meeting to review progress on the joint initiatives in Liberia and to collaborate on plans moving forward. Dr. Habecker reiterated TU’s commitment to raising its two-thirds share of the $390,000 in funding for the Samuel Morris Educational Resource and Conference Center, a joint venture between TU and the Sinoe County Association in the Americas (SCAA). Dr. Charles Kirkpatrick, TU professor emeritus, brought a historical perspective to the meeting as he shared about the life and legacy of Samuel Morris. IEI and AE representatives, Randy Carman, Gary Friesen, and Elijah Tarpeh provided updates on the Samuel Morris Scholars Program being launched this fall, a computer-based learning program designed to scale to 700 schools throughout Liberia over the next five years.
